She basically broke it down into three categories: (1) diet (good nutrition), (2) exercise, and (3) mindset. I think my heart sang as I wholeheartedly agree!
SO, lets take a look at these.
There ain't no two ways about it. If you want to FEEL WELL then you've gotta EAT WELL.
If you put garbage in well guess what! Yeah I don't even have to finish that sentence. BUT if you put the good stuff in, it's quite spectacular what happens to not only the body but your mind!
AND it doesn't mean the same thing for everyone either. You could be vegetarian, meat-eater, paleo, vegan, gluten-free and the lists goes on and on.
What it does mean is nutrient dense whole foods 80% of the time. Experiment to see what works for you and find someone or a group that can support you!
You've also got to moooooove your body peeps especially as we age. The thing is you don't have to do something that you don't like!
Get yourself out there and start trying different ways to exercise. Find that one that makes your heart SING! The one you just put on your duds and go do. No excuses because you love it THAT MUCH!
For me, it happens to be cycling. If someone asks me to ride it's rare that I say no unless my body can't physically do it! :) I can't help myself because I know how good it makes me feel both physically and mentally. It could be as simple as taking dance classes! Salsa anyone?!?!?
Stress, negative self-talk and any form of self-deprecation are the number one culprits for holding people back from where they are wanting to go or where or how they see themselves.
An example is myself. Holy cow the things I used to say to myself when I looked in the mirror. I was fat, ugly, pinching at myself, disgusted, I think even the words fat fuck came to mind. Yup! Then I hit on to Louise Hay and I got started on mirror work with affirmations.
I wrote out this big looooooooong list of all these things and taped it to my mirror and it really came down to one that I would say every single day I passed by a mirror. I'd look at myself and say "I'm beautiful.".
Did it feel weird. YES!!! Did it take awhile? YES!!! BUT one day I believed it! I remember the day. I was like holy shit no but seriously you are. Look at you! I could see it. It was amazing. I cried.
AND GUESS WHAT ELSE HAPPENED???? I lost even more weight and I didn't do a thing differently! I ate the same, I exercised the same (actually less!) and weight started to come off. Stress and self-love play a HUGE part in all of this. I'm living proof of that.
SO you must come up with techniques to work with your stress and any form of self-deprecation.
These can include: affirmations, meditation, your favourite way to exercise, eating well, cooking, reading personal development books or positive quotes, gratitude projects, surrounding yourself with people who are positive and that lift you up, getting out for a walk in nature, dancing, singing, yoga, SUP'ing.
Do whatever it is that lights you up and makes you feel GOOD!
It doesn't matter what age you start just that you start. If you're not sure if what you are doing is correct then seek someone out like myself to find out.
